Warrior Nation helping Well-Fed to make a difference

These may be unprecedented times for everyone, but one constant certainly remains – time and time again, the Warrior Nation are willing to go above and beyond to put the local community first.

Asked to help Well-Fed Scotland in pursuit of a £20,000 fundraising goal, Glasgow Warriors supporters stepped up when it counted. The target was smashed with a full 24 hours to spare, with the totaliser eventually reading £21,803 when the final whistle was blown on the Crowdfunder page on Friday night.

The campaign’s success means that the Whiteinch social enterprise can continue to support those most in-need during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, providing food parcels and pre-prepared meals to those at social and economic risk.

“I wanted to take a moment to personally thank each and every person at the Glasgow Warriors,” said Chris Gray, Managing Director of Well-Fed Scotland.

“In particular, I want to say a special thank-you to the Warrior Nation and each and every fan who rallied in support of our cause, pledged money and then went on to share our cause with your family and friends.

“From the players giving their support, to everyone working behind the scenes to support Well-Fed during this unprecedentedly difficult time, you enabled us to reach our target.

“The money raised will allow Well-Fed to continue to provide freshly prepared meals and emergency food parcels to those in our communities who need it most. Well-Fed has seen a 500% increase in referrals over the past three weeks and your support will ensure that we’re able to meet this demand and ensure that no-one in our community has to go without a meal or food in their cupboards and fridges.

“Thank you - we truly couldn’t have done this without you!”
