Lee Jones returns to deliver match ball for Lions fixture
Glasgow Warriors will welcome Lee Jones back to Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday (9 October) afternoon to deliver the match ball ahead of the club’s United Rugby Championship game against Emirates Lions, at 3.05pm.
Lee Jones departed Scotstoun this summer after representing the club on 92 occasions, in which he scored 18 tries. He is the first player to be recognised for his contribution to the club in this way having left the during the pandemic and having played his final games behind closed doors.
He said: “It’s great to come back, given the circumstance of the last 18 months without crowds and to have the opportunity to see a crowd at Scotstoun again.
“It is a chance to thank our fans for their support over the years while I was a Warrior. The crowd makes such a difference, previously as players we might not have let on how much of a difference they made, whereas over the last year the impact of the crowd was highlighted, so it’s massive to come back and have this opportunity. I now can’t emphasis enough how much of a difference having the supporters in the stands makes.”

Head Coach, Danny Wilson, said: “We’re delighted Lee has accepted the invitation to come back and deliver the match ball on Saturday. During the pandemic we had two seasons worth of players leaving the club that didn’t get a chance to say their goodbyes in front of our home support.
“As a club, welcoming them back and giving them this opportunity in the coming season is massively important to us.”
