Glasgow Warriors to Plaster Scotstoun Purple

Glasgow Warriors to Plaster Scotstoun Purple

Glasgow Warriors will be continuing their support for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity next month, as the club prepares to Plaster Scotstoun Purple for the visit of Ulster on Friday 27 March.

Leidos, an Official Sponsor of Glasgow Warriors, have kindly agreed to co-lead the initiative, which will see club staff and supporters encouraged to donate to the Charity both prior to and during matchday.

The event – part of the charity’s wider Plaster It Purple fundraising campaign – will see the club work closely with its Official Charity Partner to help the Hospital continue to provide the dedicated care and attention for nearly 200,000 patients and their families every year.

Supporters will be encouraged to wear purple to the match, whilst Glasgow players will sport purple laces and special purple warm-up t-shirts on the night.

A dedicated fundraising page has been set up by the Charity to allow supporters to donate, as well as bucket collections on the night itself. Click here to donate now.

Supporters looking to purchase match tickets for the clash with Ulster will also be able to add a donation to their order; donations can be made in £1, £2 and £5 denominations with all proceeds from donations going directly to the Charity.

Tickets for the Plaster It Purple match against Ulster on Friday 27 March go on sale to Warrior Nation members at 10am tomorrow, and on general sale at 10am on Friday.

Speaking following the announcement of the event, Head of Fundraising at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity William McGowan said: “Glasgow Warriors have been fantastic supporters of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for many years, and we’re
delighted to be plastering Scotstoun purple with the support of Leidos.

“The community spirit at the club is very special indeed, and we’re incredibly grateful to the players, staff and fans alike for their contributions to our local children’s hospital. One
in three children living in Glasgow will require treatment at the hospital this year; thanks to the generosity of Glasgow Warriors and Leidos, we can fund vital services and equipment that can transform some of the most difficult days of their lives.”

Alec Harley, Director, Leidos Scotland said: “As a major employer in Scotland, we invest in the heart of our communities and are proud supporters of Glasgow Warriors and the Plaster it Purple campaign run by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

“Leidos strives to make the world safer, healthier and more efficient through technology, engineering and science and therefore this exceptional charity providing special care to young people across Scotland is very close to our hearts.

“We hope the supporters have a great time at the game and help us to Plaster it Purple.”

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Dave Rennie added: “We’re rapt to be continuing our support for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. We see first-hand the difference that the Charity makes when we visit at Christmas time, and the players and coaches are always keen to help out in any way we can.

“To Plaster Scotstoun Purple for one of our biggest matches of the season is a great initiative, and we know that our fans will join us in helping to make the event as successful as possible.

“The squad are looking forward to running out in front of an all-purple Scotstoun, as well as helping the Charity make a massive difference to the lives of the young kids and their families in their care.”
