Glasgow Warriors announce partnership with Well-Fed

Glasgow Warriors are proud to be formalising its support of Well-Fed Scotland, following the Whiteinch group’s confirmation as the club’s Official Social Enterprise Partner.

The partnership strengthens the connection between the pair, following a year that has seen the club and the Warrior Nation wholeheartedly throw their support behind Well-Fed’s invaluable work within the community.

Established in 2017, the Whiteinch-based social enterprise has been working tirelessly to support those most in-need in recent months, providing food parcels and pre-prepared meals to those at risk of social and economic isolation.

Well-Fed’s work has seen them provide over 33,000 free meals and over 50 events – including Christmas dinners in 2017, 2018 and 2019 – as well as offering free school holiday activity and a free homework and learning club for families within the local community.

A Crowdfunding appeal in April 2020 saw the Warrior Nation step up and rally around the social enterprise, helping to raise over £21,000 to allow Well-Fed to continue their vital support of those at risk in a challenging year.

Supporters also turned out in force at last December’s meeting with La Rochelle at Scotstoun, donating thousands of items to the Whiteinch foodbank ahead of the club’s Heineken Champions Cup clash in dire conditions.

Christopher Gray, the Managing Director of Well Fed (Scotland) CIC, said: “We are delighted and honoured to be working in partnership with Glasgow Warriors.

“As an organisation we have enormous respect for the excellent work that Glasgow Warriors do within our community and we are excited to working alongside them to promote and achieve our closely aligned social objectives.

“As an organisation, partnership working is key to our success and with the opening of our brand new community facility, the Unit, the timing could not be better as we look forward to and explore the ways that the formalising of this partnership can benefit our local community.”

Glasgow Warriors back-row player, Chris Fusaro, whose family personally support Well-Fed, said: ‘’The club is delighted to partner with Well Fed CIC. The work that they do to support and provide a service for the local community is outstanding.

“As a club we see the benefits of engaging with our community and to be able to support a local organisation who have aligned values is something we look forward too.’’
