Glasgow to face Exeter and La Rochelle in Heineken Champions Cup
Glasgow Warriors will face familiar foes in the 2021/22 Heineken Champions Cup pool stage, having been drawn to face Exeter and La Rochelle in the opening phase of the competition.
The three sides were also drawn together in the group stages in the 2019/20 season, with Exeter having also been opponents for Danny Wilson’s men in the 2020/21 edition of Europe’s premier club competition.
Indeed, it will be the fourth time in five seasons that the Warriors will face the English side in the pool phase of the Heineken Champions Cup, with the two teams having also faced off against each other in 2017/18.
Both sides have recorded three victories from the seven meetings between the two teams in the professional era, with a 31-31 draw at Scotstoun in January 2020 the only time the sides could not be separated.
The Warriors did the double over the Englishmen in the 2013/14 season; tries from Tim Swinson and Tyrone Holmes earned Glasgow a 20-16 win at Scotstoun, before Sean Maitland and Sean Lamont crossed in a 15-10 victory away at Sandy Park.
📽️ It was a nail-biter right to the end, but it's a memorable evening in France for Glasgow Warriors.

Honours are also even in the historical meetings between the Warriors and La Rochelle, with the meetings in the 2019/20 season the only previous time the two teams have faced each other in European competition.
Each team won their respective away fixture, with the Warrior Nation needing no reminding of the famous victory at the Stade Marcel Deflandre in December 2019.
That victory is one of only three triumphs on French soil achieved by the Scotstoun side, with scores from Callum Gibbins, Niko Matawalu and Kyle Steyn ultimately securing a 27-24 win over their hosts.
Full fixture details will be confirmed in due course, with the 2022 Final to be played in Marseille in May.
