Club Statement | Guinness PRO14 suspended

Glasgow Warriors are fully supportive of the Guinness PRO14’s decision to today suspend the league indefinitely in response to the evolving COVID-19 outbreak.

The club has been working closely with both the Guinness PRO14 and Scottish Rugby around this decision and will continue to do so as the situation develops.

The health and safety of all our players, teams, staff and supporters is paramount and this has been the central factor in the decision-making process.

The suspension has been directed by the board of Celtic Rugby DAC and will remain under constant review.

David Jordan, Tournament Director PRO14 Rugby, said: We have made this decision with player welfare and supporter safety foremost in our minds.

“It is clear that everyone across society has a role to play in supporting the actions of governments in order help curb this outbreak and sport must play a key role in that.”

We understand the effect that this will have on all stakeholders in the club, but we will endeavour to ensure that any disruption caused due to the league’s suspension is minimal.

Further updates will be provided in due course, and we will communicate any relevant information we receive to all of our stakeholders in a timely manner.

We understand the severity of the current situation regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and we thank our supporters for their patience and understanding.
