1872 Cup to be decided at Scotstoun
Glasgow Warriors will open their 2021 Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup campaign with a Saturday afternoon trip to Benetton, following this morning’s confirmation of the dates and kick-off times for the competition’s opening three rounds.
Danny Wilson’s men will take on their hosts at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo on Saturday 24 April (kick-off 1pm UK time), having claimed a 46-25 victory over the Treviso-based outfit in their final match of the 2020/21 Guinness PRO14 regular season.
The Warriors then move into a double-header against Edinburgh, which will take place over successive weekends in rounds two and three.
As the 1872 Cup series is currently tied at one win apiece, the opening match of the double-header will serve as the 2020/21 decider, with the winner of the match at Scotstoun on Friday 7 May (kick-off 8.15pm) taking the trophy.
The two sides will then meet again in a regular league match eight days later, with the Warriors travelling to BT Murrayfield on Saturday 15 May (kick-off 7.35pm).
Confirmation for the following three rounds will follow once PRO14 Rugby has received all necessary approvals and permissions from the relevant governments and health authorities for the South African teams to travel.
