Petrus du Plessis was confirmed as a new addition to the Glasgow Warriors coaching team ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, having initially joined the club as injury cover from London Irish in October 2018.

The South African tighthead agreed a two-year deal in June 2019, combining his playing commitments with a role as the club's new scrum coach.

Winner of three English Premiership titles and a brace of Heineken Champions Cup trophies during a seven-year spell at Saracens, du Plessis made his Glasgow Warriors debut against the London club in the 2018/19 Heineken Champions Cup group stages.

He went on to make six appearances for the club during his first season at Scotstoun, with his experience proving a valuable asset both on and off the pitch.

Away from rugby, du Plessis is also a qualified physiotherapist and credited actor.
