Jonny Gray joined the Warriors as a Scottish Rugby Elite Development player in the summer of 2012 after a number of standout displays for Hamilton and Scotland under-20.

The younger brother of former Glasgow favourite Richie Gray, he spent a period of time before his arrival at the Warriors training and playing in New Zealand, having been named as one of the recipients of the 2012 John Macphail Scholarship.

In the summer of 2013 he signed a three-year deal with the Warriors, having made his debut for the club in December 2012 in a victory over Edinburgh at Scotstoun, and in November of the same year made his full Scotland debut during the Autumn Tests after an impressive start to the 2013/14 season.

Jonny made his Six Nations debut for Scotland in February 2014, as a substitute against England.

He captained the Warriors for the first time against Connacht at The Sportsground in April 2015. The following season he was named club captain and for the 2016/17 season he was appointed co-captain, along with Henry Pyrgos.

Renowned for his tackling, with a success rate of over 97%, Gray made a world-record 43 tackles in a single match during Glasgow's 39-24 victory over Leinster in April 2019.
