George Horne

Scrum-half

George Horne made his Glasgow Warriors debut against Ospreys in November 2016.

He is a product of Howe of Fife club and has Scotland representative honours at U17, U19 and U20 level. George has also represented his region, Caledonia, at all age-grade levels.

Having impressed in his debut season at the club, Horne signed his first professional contract with the Warriors in 2017.

The scrum-half enjoyed a scintillating debut campaign, scoring ten tries across all competitions en route to winning the club’s Young Player of the Season and Player of the Season prizes at the annual end of season awards dinner.

Horne’s stellar form did not go unnoticed by national selectors, winning him his first senior cap for Scotland in a 30-29 defeat to the USA on the 2018 summer tour. A week later, the scrum-half recorded his first international tries, scoring a brace in a memorable 44-15 victory over Argentina in Resistencia.

Prior to his senior international debut, he played a huge role in Scotland U20s memorable 36-34 defeat of their Welsh counterparts in the 2015 Six Nations Championship, kicking eight goals from eight attempts – five penalties and three conversions. The following game, Horne scored the opening try in the age-grade side’s impressive 45-0 win over Italy, at Netherdale.

Horne was selected for the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2015 and appeared in all five games, starting in the pool stages game against Ireland.

He was also a key member of the Scotland 7s squad that took victory at Twickenham in the final leg of the 2016/17 World Sevens Series, having also been named in the Dream Team for the event in Paris the previous weekend.

The scrum-half is the brother of Scotland and Glasgow Warriors centre, Peter, and is son of Howe of Fife 1XV coach, Garry. His mum, Hazel, is a tennis coach, another sport in which George has credentials, representing the North of Scotland at national championships.

Horne marked his 100th appearance for Glasgow Warriors in trademark fashion, scoring just 94 seconds after coming off the bench in a 43-25 victory over Leinster at Scotstoun.
