DTH van der Merwe made his debut for Glasgow Warriors against Cardiff Blues in October 2009 spending six seasons at the club before moving to the Scarlets and then Newcastle Falcons.

The club’s all-time leading try scorer, van der Merwe, scored 43 tries in 96 appearances during his previous spell at the club, and in his final game scored a try in the win over Munster in the Guinness PRO12 Final in Belfast.

A PRO12 title-winner with both Glasgow and the Scarlets, the winger scored 19 tries in 41 appearances during his two-year spell with the Scarlets, the last of which came against Munster in the 2017 Guinness PRO12 Final in Dublin, when he lifted the trophy for the second time in his career.

Van der Merwe rejoined Glasgow Warriors in March 2018, with his first appearance in his second spell at the club could not have gone any better for the Canadian international, as he scored a brace of tries against Zebre in front of a sold-out Scotstoun.

Born in South Africa before moving to Canada with his family as a teenager, van der Merwe has over 51 caps for his country and has played in three Rugby World Cups. He is Canada’s all-time leading try scorer.
