Stewart's debut wish Grant-ed

There was an international debut for a Warrior for the second week in succession on Saturday, as Grant Stewart took to the BT Murrayfield pitch to earn his first senior Scotland cap.

The hooker came off the bench to become the 1107th player to pull on the famous dark blue jersey in a Test match, helping his side close out a hard-fought 17-14 win over France.

Canada call for DTH

Canada continued their 2019 Rugby World Cup preparations in Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday, as a squad containing DTH van der Merwe - alongside former Warrior Djustice Sears-Duru - took on Leinster at Tim Horton's Field.

Despite fighting back from a half-time deficit to lead, a late try from the Irishmen denied the home side the victory.

European fixtures confirmed

Glasgow Warriors supporters began planning their 2019/20 European adventure on Friday, after the club's Heineken Champions Cup fixtures were confirmed by EPCR.

Dave Rennie's squad will open their campaign at home to Sale Sharks, with the La Rochelle double-header and Exeter away trip also gathering significant interest from the Warrior Nation.

Scottish Rugby announce Mallinder

There was also confirmation of a new face at BT Murrayfield on Friday morning, as Jim Mallinder was announced as Scotland's new Performance Director.

The former Northampton Saints head coach's appointment was met with widespread approval from the Scottish rugby public, with his remit including the men's and women's national teams as well as Super6 and part-time clubs the country.
