Scotland pass Tbilisi test

With just over 24 hours to go until Gregor Townsend names his 31-man Scotland squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Saturday evening's meeting with Georgia in Tbilisi was the final chance for a number of Glasgow Warriors to put their hands up for selection. Scott Cummings registered his first international try in the 44-10 victory, whilst Sam Johnson made a welcome return to the dark blue jersey as Scotland continued their tournament preparations.

Fiji victorious over Tonga

The club's Scotland contingent weren't the only Warriors on international duty this weekend - indeed, two members of Dave Rennie's squad were in action in Auckland on Saturday as Niko Matawalu and his Fiji team-mates took on a Tonga squad featuring Siua Halanukonuka. It was the Flying Fijians who took the victory, coming away with a 29-19 win over their Pacific rivals.

Halanukonuka books his place on the plane

Shortly after the final whistle blew at Eden Park, Tonga became the latest team to confirm the names of those travelling to Japan later this month. Amongst the 31 players selected by head coach Toutai Kefu was none other than Halanukonuka, as the Glasgow Warriors prop prepares to travel to his first Rugby World Cup.

Grigg ready for Ulster

Back at Scotstoun, Dave Rennie and his squad are continuing to gear up for this weekend's opening pre-season fixture against Guinness PRO14 counterparts Ulster in Belfast. With competition for places as keen as ever, Nick Grigg is just one of the players looking forward to the first hit-out of the new campaign.
