Rennie: “Whoever we play or wherever it is, we’ll give it plenty.”

Dave Rennie saw enough from his Glasgow Warriors side in defeat to Saracens yesterday to give him confidence going into a Heineken Champions Cup Quarter Final come March.

Warriors will learn who their last eight opponents are later today and the Head Coach will take confidence from the pressure his side put the English Champions under for majority of the game.

He said: “We were pretty sharp early on, applied pressure well and looked after the ball.

“We didn’t do it well enough in the second half and against sides like Saracens you need an 80-minute performance.

“We know we’ll be better next time, we’ll need to be.”

There is a chance that Glasgow will return to Allianz Park and play their second European Quarter-Final against two times Champions Saracens in three years.

Rennie said his side will learn from their 38-19 defeat, taking learnings from both positive and negative aspects of the game.

He said: “We’re going to have to defend better and tackle better as individuals and be a bit more clinical – turn some of that second-half pressure into points.”

“We gave them a lot of ball to hurt us. At various times they looked pretty shattered but the only way you can run them around is by maintaining ball and pressure.

“I thought maybe we kicked a little bit too much ball away aimlessly in that last part of the game. But whoever we play in the quarter-finals or wherever it is, we’ll give it plenty.”
