New fan zone progressing at Scotstoun Stadium

Supporters coming to enjoy the Plaster It Purple match day this Friday (19 April, gates open 6pm) will see our new Fan Zone being built at the east side of the stadium.

The priority has been to create a better layout for our food and beverage, merchandise shop, and game day activations. Ultimately, to ensure we keep improving the atmosphere at matches.

The Fan Zone, has opened up the space behind the east stand and replaced the grass with a much more robust aggregate surface.

This project has been made possible by the support of SP Energy Networks, The Malcolm Group, HF Group, and Glasgow Life.

Bigger and better space

Previously this space measured 66 metres wide (north to south) and 12 metres deep (east to west). When the work is completed it will remain 66 metres wide, but become 44 metres deep.

Opening up the space allows the club to create a focal point for match-day entertainment. It also means the layout of the space and queueing times can be improved.

In future, it will also be able to accommodate new sponsor activations for supporters to enjoy.

This Friday’s BKT United Rugby Championship Round 14 match against the Hollywoodbets Sharks is the first time crowds will be in the venue since the construction started.

Operational in May

The space is not yet functional, therefore only a small amount of activity will be running in the Fan Zone. The space will be fully operational for the last home game of the regular season. That is on Friday 31 May against Zebre Parma.

Glasgow Warriors’ Head of Operations, Kenny Brown, said: “We’ve worked hard with Glasgow Life to make incremental improvements across Scotstoun Stadium this season. These changes have all been with a view to making our supporters’ experiences of our home the best they can be.

“I’m delighted with the progress we are making with the new Fan Zone and I look forward to it opening at the Zebre match next month. We ask that supporters bear with us through the disruption at the east side of the stadium on Friday. Thank you for your patience.”
