Grigg enjoying Johnson partnership

Last time Glasgow Warriors travelled to Italy was a memorable trip for Nick Grigg.

Demonstrating just how electric he can be in attack, Nick set up three of Glasgow Warriors’ four tries that afternoon in Parma on his way to being awarded man of the match.

Further good performances led to Nick invited to train with the Scotland squad ahead of the Autumn Internationals alongside fellow Glasgow centres Mark Bennett, Alex Dunbar and Peter Horne.

However, just like against Zebre in October, this afternoon it is Sam Johnson partnering Nick in midfield and it is a combination they are both very familiar with.

“I’ve played most of my rugby this season with either Sam or Mark (Bennett)” said Nick “It’s a combination I’m used to and one I enjoy.

“Last season when I was playing a lot for Stirling County, more often than not it was outside of Sam. Our understanding of each other and friendship has grown since then, he’s a great player.

“Hopefully we can play as well together today as we did against Zebre. I have a lot of confidence in myself, in Sam and in the rest of the players around me so hopefully that will show this afternoon in another good performance.”

Benetton Treviso come into today’s game having won their last three on the bounce and Nick is under no illusions about the challenge the Italian side pose.

“Treviso have been playing really well recently. They’re a tough team to play in Italy and we’re going to have to be at our best to win.

“They’re not just a big pack of forwards. They’re also dangerous off loose ball so we need to make sure our structures are right.

“Everyone was happy with the win against Edinburgh but we’re back to it. It’s an important league match and we’re focused on what is going to be a tough game.”

Benetton Treviso v Glasgow Warriors kicks-off at 1.05pm thus afternoon and can be followed LIVE on BBC ALBA and on Twitter @GlasgowWarriors.
