Martha’s link up with Warriors

Glasgow-based Martha's restaurant have become an official sponsor of Glasgow Warriors and as part of the deal they have become the club’s official performance caterer for the 2016/17 season.Peter Horne has launched the new partnership with Martha's

The city centre eatery now provide Glasgow Warriors players and staff with healthy meals at Scotstoun throughout the week as they prepare for matches.

With the support of the Warriors' venue catering partner Cordia, Martha’s will also have a food stall on matchdays at Scotstoun, which will provide supporters with hearty and healthy fast food, such as Martha’s signature wraps, gluten free rice bowls and balanced childrens choices.

Warriors and Scotland players Peter Horne and Josh Strauss have officially launched the new sponsorship deal at the Martha’s restaurant on St Vincent Street in Glasgow.

Glasgow Warriors managing director Nathan Bombrys said: "We are really pleased to be partnering with another healthy Glasgow business, and excited that Martha's have decided to partner with us as they continue to grow their brand as a high performance fast food restaurant.

"We've been fans of Martha's for some time and it's great that they now feed our players, as well as provide hearty, nutritious meals for our supporters on match days."

Glasgow Warriors head of strength and conditioning Stuart Yule said: “To enable the players to perform week in week out, on the training field, in the gym and on match day it is vital that their nutrition of is of the highest standard. 

"The players at Warriors train extremely hard and it is important that they fuel optimally during the day to enable them to train with the intensity required to improve and recover for the next day’s demands. 

"Martha’s provide meals for the players which contain the optimal balance of carbs, protein and fats. The tasty meal and salad options are the perfect combination of nutrients, vital for repair, replenishment of muscle energy stores and muscle growth. 

"Feeding a squad of rugby players every day with nourishing and enjoyable meals is a challenging task, Martha’s take on this challenge daily and provide a quality of nutrition that is integral to the performance process.”

Martha’s director Gavin Clark added: “The relevance and appeal of Martha's to the sports and fitness industry has soared in the last few years and it's an area we are keen to build on.

“Securing our partnership with Glasgow Warriors is a fantastic endorsement for Martha's and the whole team are delighted to be working with such an inspiring organisation.

“As official performance caterer we will work closely with the strength and fitness department to tailor what we do and help drive optimum performance across the squad.

“We will also be selling our signature dishes at home matches at Scotstoun, so for the first time people will be able to enjoy our hot dishes away from our city centre restaurant.”
