Townsend hoping for large Scotstoun crowd

Glasgow Warriors take on Ulster at Scotstoun Stadium tomorrow night (kick-off 7.35pm) and head coach Gregor Townsend is hoping there will be a large crowd cheering on the team.Gregor Townsend looks ahead to tomorrow's game with Ulster tomorrow

New temporary stands have been constructed over the last couple of weeks to enable as many supporters as possible to attend the final few games of the season and the capacity of the stadium will be around 10,000.

Glasgow are hoping to finish the season in the play-offs and a win at Scotstoun tomorrow night would give them a huge boost with just four games remaining.

Speaking exclusively to glasgowwarriors.org Gregor Townsend said: "It's been cracking weather all week and the forecast is for it to be sunny all day tomorrow, the pitch is in great shape and we've got two very competitive teams in really good form so we're hoping for a big crowd here tomorrow night.

"It's probably our biggest game of the season. We're playing another team who are sitting above us in the league who are also very keen to get a win to stay in the top four and we can't wait."

Townsend has named the same pack that started at Thomond Park last Saturday in the win over Munster but has made some changes to his backline.

Peter Horne will start his first game of the season after nine months out of action with an ACL injury and 21-year-old Finn Russell moves from centre to stand-off, with Mark Bennett wearing the No.13 shirt.

Townsend added: "It's great news that Peter (Horne) is making his first start of the season for us. He was one of our best players last season and was voted Players' Player of the Season and he's worked really hard to come back from his ACL injury.

"He'll be helping Finn (Russell) inside him, who has been excellent over the last few weeks playing at inside centre, but he plays at stand-off a lot and we believe that combination will work well for us."

The capacity of Scotstoun has been increased to around 10,000 for the remainder of the season and tickets for Friday’s game are available from glasgowwarriors.org or by phoning the ticket office on 0844 800 3490 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm).

The ticket office at Scotstoun will be open on Friday from 10.30am and tickets will be available right up until kick-off (subject to availability).
