Warriors Kitted Out For New Campaign By Canterbury

Glasgow Warriors today unveiled the home and alternate playing kits they hope will leave them dressed for success in season 2011/12.

Supplied by Canterbury of New Zealand, both strips are a contemporary take on the club's traditional colours and designs, and will be donned for battle on two of the biggest stages in northern hemisphere rugby, the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup.

Inspirational lock forwards Al Kellock and Richie Gray today took time out from their Rugby World Cup preparations with Scotland to give themselves and the Warriors support a first glimpse of the team's new on-field attire before heading to the recently-opened Riverside Museum for the 2011/12 Glasgow squad photo.

Club captain Kellock welcomed the launch of the strips and the dawning of a new campaign, saying: "Coming back today from the national team camp, straight away you could feel the buzz and excitement there is around the Warriors squad ahead of the new season.

"Putting on a new kit for the first time always gets the juices flowing, because you know the games are just around the corner and that you"ll soon have the chance to reap the rewards of all the hard work you"ve done during pre-season.

'the boys are in agreement that these strips look great, and we"ll wear them with pride as we represent the city across Europe this season. It's a massive honour to run out in the black and blue, so I"m delighted that the home top still has a real Glasgow stamp as well as a wee bit of fun incorporated with the effects down the side."

Both strips are now on sale in the Gordon Street and Sauchiehall Street_branches of Greaves Sports, Glasgow Warriors" official retail partner, as well as the Scottish Rugby Store at Murrayfield. Fans can also buy on-line at www.scottishrugbydirect.com. Canterbury's Glasgow Warriors 2011/12 leisure range will shortly be available from the same outlets.

Warriors chief executive Kenny Baillie joined the chorus of approval about the new kits, saying: "We owe Canterbury a vote of thanks for giving us another two strips that reflect the high standards of quality and inspiration we have come to expect from them.

"I"m confident the designs will capture the imagination of our supporters, and I look forward to spotting the strips around Firhill from our opening pre-season friendly against Newcastle Falcons on Friday 12 August.

"As we set out on another fantastic 10 months of RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup rugby, I'd also like to acknowledge our sponsors, Response, McCrae Financial Services and PV Solar UK, whose logos appear on both strips and whose continued backing is hugely valued by everyone at the Warriors.

'the players and coaches have been working incredibly hard in the pre-season period to ensure we live up to the expectations of everyone who supports us during the coming campaign."

Glasgow fans have just three days left to give themselves a chance of winning an AAA trip alongside the team to the Heineken Cup match against Montpellier at Stade Yves Du Manoir in December.

Fans who commit to a super value 2011/12 season ticket by midnight this Sunday will be entered into a draw to be Passenger Number 24 at the club's premium European away fixture.

The winner and their choice of guest will:
" Travel with the squad to Montpellier.
" Spend a minimum of one night in the squad hotel.
" Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinners in the squad hotel.
" Join Warriors directors and VIPs to watch the match and enjoy pre-match hospitality.
" Travel back to Glasgow courtesy of Glasgow Warriors.
