Warriors Team To Face Beziers

Glasgow Warriors today announced the squad to face Beziers in the final game of the XV Challenge Vaquerin tournament in Camares, France (KO 3pm BST).

Five changes have been made to the side that defeated Castres 26-21 a week ago; Thom Evans, Andrew Henderson, Dougie Hall, Kevin Tkachuk and winning try scorer Mark McMillan all make the starting line-up as part of a squad rotation.

Warriors coach, Sean Lineen, said: "We want to give everyone a chance, that's why we"re out here, so the players can learn and practice the new patterns and systems that we want to bring into our game: the area of contact, the ELVs [experimental law variations], which include new plays for the new rules that apply to the scrum, and the line-out.

'the players need to understand their roles in the game and the earlier we can do that the better."

Lineen knows a fair bit about Beziers and expects another physical conest in the home town of the late France and Bezier prop, Armand Vaquerin.

The tournament was named in honour of the ex-France international who won 27 caps for his country over a ten year period (as well as nine league titles with Bezier).

"We need a lot of contact and we"re getting that from the quality opposition we"re playing. Beziers are a huge team with a lot of power", added Lineen.

"We need to get our head around that early - getting over the gain line and winning the collision and contact in order to get quick ball."

The Biggest Team in Glasgow will return to face Bristol at Firhill Arena on Friday 22 August (kick-off 7:30pm).

The best way to see all the Warriors action is with a season ticket. Season ticket prices for the new season are frozen for adults, remaining at _150, a saving of _65 compared to buying individual match tickets for all the games. That's the equivalent saving of four free games!

Concession tickets are available to students and OAPs, priced at _80, with supporters under the age of 18 getting to see 13 games of top-flight professional rugby for only _30, the equivalent of just _2.30 per game!
