Over 300 players and fans, young and old alike, today came together for the first Glasgow Warriors family Funday and touch tournament at the Warriors new training facility at Scotstoun Stadium.

Families and children of all ages came to meet their favourite Warriors, getting photos with them and autograph booklets signed. They were also able to get involved with activities led by the Glasgow players, which included an obstacle course, garden games inflatable Connect 4, CrazyCatch and a Warriors autograph hunt.

Glasgow Warrior's winger Colin Shaw said: "It is key to keep the fans involved and brilliant for them to come along and see where we are now. Also for them to meet the players and be involved with the team."

The touch tournament, which ran alongside the Funday included both mixed sex and male competitions with teams from across Glasgow, getting involved. Glasgow Warriors had their very own exclusive touch team, including players such as Max Evans, Richie Vernon and captain and new signing Chris Fusaro.

Cambuslang were able to hold the Warriors to a one all draw in their first game, but after this the pro’s found their form and went on to win the tournament. Glasgow Hawks were runners up, with GHK finishing third.

Super Mix – a mixed sex team from Cambuslang – won the mixed trophy with victories over the Try Hard’s and Allan Glens.

Warriors Head Coach Sean Lineen was on hand to present the prizes to the winning team captain’s while Scottish Rugby President, Ian McLauchlan, made a guest appearance.

The popular Warriors Autograph Hunt was won by a young Warriors fan who will now be the team mascot at the Warriors versus Sale Sharks pre-season friendly on Friday, August 20 at Firhill Stadium.  Kick-off 7.30 PM – Tickets £10 for adults; £5 for OAPs, students and Under 18s.  Click here for tickets

Glasgow Warriors would like to thank all the touch players and teams for participating and we would also like to thank all our supporters for coming along and being part of the day.  Thanks also to the Warriors Supporters Club and Hearts and Balls for supporting the event.
