DTH van der Merwe

DTH van der Merwe re-joined Glasgow Warriors in March 2018, having previously spent six seasons with the Warriors from 2009 until 2015 before moving to the Scarlets and then Newcastle Falcons.

The club’s all-time leading try scorer, van der Merwe scored 43 tries in 96 appearances during his previous spell at the club, and in his final game scored a try in the win over Munster in the Guinness PRO12 Final in Belfast.

His first appearance in his second spell at the club could not have gone any better for the Canadian international, as he scored a brace of tries against Zebre in front of a sold-out Scotstoun.

A PRO12 title-winner with both Glasgow and the Scarlets, the winger scored 19 tries in 41 appearances during his two-year spell with the Scarlets, the last of which came against Munster in the 2017 Guinness PRO12 Final in Dublin, when he lifted the trophy for the second time in his career.

Born in South Africa before moving to Canada with his family as a teenager, van der Merwe has scored 32 tries in 51 Tests for his country and has played in three Rugby World Cups. He is Canada’s all-time leading try scorer.
