Bernardo Mario Stortoni joined Glasgow Warriors from Bristol in summer 2007 and instantly became a Firhill favourite. An ever present pair of safe hands under the high ball, Bernardo became affectionately known as "Bernie". Such is Bernie's influence on the team, he was installed as stand-in captain for the start of the 2010/11 Magners League season in place of Alastair Kellock whilst the Scotland lock was recovering from knee surgery. Stortoni has played 21 times for Argentina, including the two Tests against Scotland in Rosario and Buenos Aires in June 2008. He previously played club rugby in England for Rotherham and Bristol after a sojourn in France with Narbonne. In 2005, Bernie played for Argentina against the British & Irish Lions in their pre-departure Test at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff - a game which featured Glasgow team-mate Chris Cusiter.
