Glasgow Warriors fans can get in the mood for the deciding leg of the 1872 Cup derby double-header against Edinburgh Rugby at Firhill by joining a New Year’s Day pre-match party in George Square. In conjunction with Glasgow Life and Clyde 1, we’ll be helping supporters young and old gear up for the vital clash with entertainment, signing sessions, and the chance to enjoy some hearty pre-game refreshments. The party will take place from 12noon-4pm in the Winter Café Bar, beside the ‘Glasgow on Ice’ rink. The bar is licensed, and if you still need tickets for the game, these will be available from the ice rink box office alongside. Warriors players will be in attendance to sign autographs and pose for pictures, with Clyde 1 DJ and Firhill man on the mic Gavin Pearson hosting the event. There will be music, a guest appearance from Clyde Coo and, who knows, perhaps even a sighting of the 1872 Cup itself! Kick-off for the big game is at 5.35pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to make your way up to the ground and see us defend the famous silverware. The good news is that charges do not apply on Sundays in certain on street parking areas of the city, including parking bays and single yellow lines in the streets surrounding George Square. Please check on street meters/ signage for detailed information and to avoid any nasty surprises. The Warriors pre-match party is part of a wider day of entertainment laid on by Glasgow Life and Clyde 1. From 12 noon until 6pm, revellers can feast on traditional Scottish produce, while the little ones enjoy a multitude of family-friendly activities. Everyone can also enjoy half-price skating on 1, 2 and 3 January. Tickets for the New Year's Day derby are available HERE, by calling 0844 800 3490, or in person at the Glasgow on Ice box office on George Square and the Gordon Street and Sauchiehall Street branches of Greaves Sports, our official retail partner. Book before midnight on Hogmanay to save £5 on the adult match-day price of £20. Students/senior citizens £10, under-18s £5. Click HERE for details of a super saver joint ticket covering the Firhill derby and the crucial home Heineken Cup game against reigning champions Leinster, plus a raft of money can't buy incentives for clubs who sell derby tickets through their own websites. |
