Glasgow Warriors captain Al Kellock, who led his side into the inaugural play offs last season, was named as captain of the Magners League dream team at last night’s awards ceremony in Cardiff. Kellock, who is joined in the dream team by fellow Warrior John Barclay and last season's stand-off Dan Parks, started 12 of the 18 regular season matches and led the Warriors to 10 wins and a draw in those games. He took over the captaincy of Scotland on the tour to Argentina this summer and helped the Scottish national side win their first away series as they beat the Pumas in back-to-back Tests. The big lock was delighted to receive the recognition. He said: “Given that the Magners League dream team has so many outstanding players and so many impressive leaders, it’s hugely pleasing to have been selected as captain of the side. “We at Glasgow worked extremely hard to get to the play-offs last season, and there’s a real desire around the club to build on that achievement and push on again this year.” LISTEN TO AL KELLOCK'S THOUGHTS IN FULL BELOW
There was further success for the Scottish sides as Edinburgh and Scotland stalwart Chris Paterson lifted the Gilbert Golden Boot for recording the best kicking percentage in the competition (88.89% - from his 45 kicks at goal on the way to scoring 115 points in just nine tournament appearances) while Edinburgh winger Tim Visser won the Young Player of the Season – pipping newly appointed captain Roddy Grant and Warriors prop Jon Welsh.
