Glasgow went down 36-17 to London Wasps at Adams Park today in their final pre-season match before the beginning of the 2010/11 Magners League season. Head coach Sean Lineen said: "We've worked hard on the contact area and saw the benefits of that tonight against a very physical team but it was dissapointing not to get more from having them on the rack for the first 25 minutes." Glasgow dominiated the early exchanges and, inside the second minute, when stand-off Duncan Weir lofted a kick ahead. Glasgow gathered the ball but a knock-on, a few metres short of the line, gave Wasps the put-in to a defensive scrum. Moments later the Warriors were threatening again - centre Graeme Morrison going close before number 8, Richie Vernon, was held up over the line before Weir kicked the visitors into an early lead from 40 metres (0-3). Despite dominating early on however Wasps' scrum-half, Joe Simpson, replied for the hosts with two unconverted tries to got 10-3 up, the first coming from Wasps'first period of sustained pressure it the match so far. At the half hour mark Glasgow bounced back when winger DTH Van Der Merwe capitalised on his own chip through to score. Wier then slotted the conversion to bring the scores level (10-10). Disaster then struck late on as the Wasps' winger Tom Varndell crossed for a try which full-back Mark Van Gisbergen converted to end the half before Weir missed an ambitious penalty opportunity to edge his back in it a minute from the interval. HALF TIME: 17-10 Unfortunately for the visitors, Wasps started the second half with a flourish, scoring a pair of converted tries through winger Christian Wade and replacement prop Zak Taulafu inside the first 20 minutes to give them a comfortable lead (31-10). Glasgow answered with five muntes remaining when replacement back-row, Ryan Wilson, barged over and substituted stand-off, Ruaridh Jackson, converted, however Wasps' had the last word two minutes later when Jack Wallace crossedto end the tie.
