Glasgow Warriors ran in 11 tries in a warm-up game against Premier 1 Dundee HSFP at Mayfield this afternoon.

Head coach Sean Lineen had billed the exercise as an opportunity to work primarily on contact and his young charges, augmented by some experience, delivered sufficient poise in that regard for the scoreboard to tick over.

Lineen told www.glasgowwarriors.org on Sunday: "It was a very worthwhile exercise.  We saw the introduction of a number of our new players and we got many of the outcomes we'd been looking for - technique at contact and the defensive side of the game.

"Everything else was a bonus really.  We've not spent a lot of time yet on attack or our setpiece but they both went well."

Lineen praised Elite Development player Finlay Gillies - recently returned from New Zealand on the John MacPhail scholarship - for his contribution at hooker and also lauded the efforts of Duncan Weir at stand-off and another recent signing, Alex Dunbar, last season's Scotland under-20 centre.

Internationalist Rob Dewey clocked up the first score in the 11th minute and by the break Glasgow had added three others through new back-row Ryan Wilson and a brace from a fellow breakaway who was guesting as a trialist.  Duncan Weir landed all four conversions.

Captain for the day, Hefin O’Hare launched second-half try proceedings, a second back-row trialist added his own try brace, Warriors recruit from the Scotland under-20 side, Alex Dunbar, also weighed in, as did Weir, Peter Horne and Scotland under-18 scrum-half Murray McConnell. Weir kicked three conversions and Horne one.

Warriors' next warm-up game is on Friday 20 August against English Premiership side Sale Sharks at Firhill, kick-off 7.30pm.  Tickets are available now through this website.
