HEINEKEN CUP FIXTURES CONFIRMED
Glasgow fans face yet another 'December to Remember' this coming season as the Warriors were today handed back-to-back fixtures against the champions of Europe, Toulouse, in the 2010/11 Heineken Cup - the fortnight immediately before the traditional festive 1872 Cup derby weekend.

Glasgow will play two back-to-back games against reigning Heineken Cup champions Toulouse in December.

Glasgow's highly successful 2009/10 campaign pivoted on their results at the half-way point of the season when they recorded victories over Ulster, Gloucester and the double over Edinburgh.

The Warriors' opening game of this year's Heineken Cup is at home against familiar foes, the Dragons, and head coach Sean Lineen knows that a result over the Men of Gwent could go a long way to defining what momentum his side could carry throughout Europe's ultimate club rugby prize.

"We can't really look beyond the first game," he said. "The Dragons know our strengths and weaknesses and they'll be confident about coming up here and getting a result.

"There is a healthy respect there. We both try and play rugby and I think this is the first time we've had them at home first up. They are a good side and they certainly had a good season last season."

On the schedule as a whole, Lineen continued: "The draw itself, to be honest, is a really exciting draw. There's never an easy group in the Heineken Cup. This is what it's all about when it comes to where you measure yourself in terms of Europe.

"We've got to make sure that this season we make a mark. We let ourselves down in that first game against Biarritz last season when we had it. Just one part of our game wasn't up to scratch and that level you will be exposed."

Second up for Glasgow is London Wasps, a side they will play in their final pre-season outing of the summer - just seven weeks before they meet in European competition. Although Lineen admits that both sides will field significantly different teams for each of the first two meetings, he concedes there are some advantages to be had.

"It'll give us a little insight into how Wasps play, but most teams know how Wasps play. They are a very physical side and they have some quality players right through the team - a lot of British Lions and English players - so we'll welcome them."

As for the challenge of facing what is currently Europe's greatest side over two weekends in December, Lineen finds it hard to hide his admiration for Toulouse. But, to ensure Glasgow come out on top, he knows that every single player that takes the field will need to be on top of their game.

"Every team loves playing against Toulouse. They let you play a bit, they have quality players and they test you all over the field. From a coach's point of view, I love the way they play. They are so comfortable on the ball. They are the current champions so it's a real honour to host them. It's a huge opportunity for the Glasgow public to pack Firhill to the rafters once more because we all hope it to be another night to remember.

"I know they'll now have a respect for us and they'll want to turn us over in our own back yard first up. So to make sure we can do the double over them, we need all 23 players who will be involved to have their 'A' game on."
