Alexander James Dunbar had represented Glasgow at every age level from u14 to u18 before signing for the city's professional team in 2010 and quickly settling into the professional set-up. He played for Scotland u17 and u18 before making a try-scoring u20 debut on the left wing in the IRB Junior World Championship match against Samoa in Tokyo in June 2009. He went onto start in all five matches in that tournament, two on the left wing and the others at centre. Alex played for Scotland u17 who won all three of their matches in the international festival at Millfield School, Somerset, in April 2007. Then followed five games at inside centre for the u18s in March and April 2008, including all three matches in the Six Nations Festival in Cork. In October 2008 he was included in the Scottish Thistles’ squad for the SCC International Rugby Sevens the following month in Singapore, though he missed the trip because of injury. Five months later he made his international sevens debut playing the IRB Sevens World Series tournament in Hong Kong and then in the Adelaide (Australia) event a week later. Alex was the Annan RFC's u18 player of the year in both 2005/06 and 2006/07. The Lockerbie Academy former pupil graduated in 2008 with an HNC from the Scottish Agricultural College at Auchincruive in Ayrshire. Honours: Scotland 7s, Scotland u20, Scotland u18, Scotland u17. |
