The Warriors will complete their summer schedule at Adams Park where Heineken Cup Pool 6 opponents, London Wasps, lie in wait on Saturday 28 August (kick-off 3pm). Glasgow Warriors Chief Executive, Kenny Baillie, added: "We look forward to welcoming Sale Sharks to Firhill for what we know will be a difficult game against a top English club. "On the back of the club's success last season, the Glasgow Warriors 2010/11 season tickets are selling faster than ever before and, with season ticket holders able to bring two friends to the Sale game for free, we are preparing for our biggest ever pre-season friendly." Prior to both UK dates, the Warriors will return to the Challenge Vaquerin tournament in France which they won in 2008. Based in Millau, Glasgow will play Edinburgh's Pool 1 opponents, Castres, on Wednesday 4 August and Montpellier on Saturday 7 August. The tournament has traditionally given new signings and the younger members of the squad a chance to impress the coaching team in advance of the big Magners League kick-off September. One of those who has previously benefited from the experience is prop Jon Welsh who was voted Young Player of the Year in 2009/10 by his peers. He said: "The Challenge Vaquerin gave us the opportunity to be together as a whole squad and to bond as a team. The training was tough but that set us up for the season. "Being new to the professional game it gave me a chance to prove myself to the other players and coaches and to test myself against some experienced opposition, including some of the best players in France." Those not involved in the Millau match action, mostly senior international players who were involved in the highly successful summer tour of Argentina and the A tour to Romania, will be put through their paces by the fitness and conditioning team. BELONG TO GLASGOW IN 2010/11 The 2010/11 Glasgow Warriors season ticket has more benefits than ever before as two Italian teams enter the Magners League for the first time PLUS all the home Heineken Cup action at Firhill. |
