Al Kellock, the Warriors talismanic lock has played a major part in his team’s achievements this season. Captaining the team into the end of season play-offs, his skills have been recognised today as he has been named in the Magners League dream team.Image

The team, chosen by media in Ireland, Scotland and Wales, includes two of Big Al’s Glasgow team-mates – stand-off Dan Parks and openside flanker, John Barclay.  All three were also mainstays of Scotland’s resurgent form in the RBS 6 Nations Championship, which culminated in that memorable win against Ireland in Dublin.

“From a personal point of view I’ve really enjoyed the season. I’ve played reasonably well and managed to play consistently. It’s about making sure I can continue to play well and work hard at getting better,” Kellock told www.glasgowwarriors.org.

The Glasgow team finished in their highest ever league position and qualified for the inaugural Magners League play-offs but Kellock wants this to be a starting block as other teams will be analysing them more rigorously next season.

“From the Glasgow point of view we were delighted to make the top four of the Magners League. It was a big occasion for the club to be in the inaugural play-off semi-finals and we were disappointed we did not push on from there.”

With Kellock featuring prominently for Glasgow and Scotland this season, working harder during the off-season is his intention in order to raise the bar of the Scottish elite game.

“We want to use this season as a springboard.  We know next season is going to be even harder but we want to make sure we get better next season,” Kellock added
