THOM EVANS INJURY UPDATE PDF Print
Monday, 15 February 2010

Everyone associated with Glasgow Warriors would like to wish our popular wing Thom Evans a full and speedy recovery from the serious injury he suffered during Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations match against Wales at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Evans collided with an opponent in the first half and damaged his neck; requiring surgery on Saturday evening at University Hospital Cardiff.

Chief executive Kenny Baillie sent his best wishes to Thom and his family and says he is looking forward to seeing him back at Firhill in the future.

Baillie said: “Like all rugby supporters, I was worried when Thom was taken from the field of play on Saturday, but we are all delighted that he is in improving and in good spirits.

“A large number of messages of support for Thom have been sent to the Warriors over the last 48 hours and I would like to thank everyone who has taken time to call and write in.

“Everyone at the Warriors looks forward to seeing Thom back in Glasgow soon and we will be giving both Thom and his brother Max full support over the next few weeks.”

Scotland team doctor James Robson said on Sunday: "The surgery that Thom required - having sustained damage to his neck - went well.

"Thom had sustained slippage to one of the vertebrae and that required to be eased back into place. The surgeons are pleased with his progress, Thom has movement in his arms and legs and his family have been to visit him today, as have a number of his Glasgow Warriors team-mates.

"He will remain at the hospital today and if he continues to progress he will be allowed to travel back to Scotland into the care of the Glasgow Warriors medical team later this week.”
