The Glasgow rugby community was the toast of the evening at both the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup and the Glasgow Sports Personality of the Year awards last night. Hutchesons' Grammar School became the first Glasgow school to win the Brewin Dolphin U15 Scottish Schools Cup whilst at the Tramway Theatre in Glasgow, Ayr coach, Kenny Murray, was presented with the Glasgow Coach of the Year award. Speaking about the accomplishments of his fellow Glaswegians, Glasgow Warriors chief executive Kenny Baillie said: "Sport in Glasgow is flourishing at the moment and it's fantastic to see representatives from the school and club game doing so well. "I was particularly pleased to see my old school, Hutchie, making history at Murrayfield last night. It's a tremendous achievement for all the pupils and staff at the Beaton Road." The points that secured Hutchie's historic victory (10-8) came from a scintillating try through scrum-half Robbie Blackwood who spotted an gap in the Stewart's-Melville defence and darted up the blindside to touchdown close to the corner. The Glasgow school made sure they were not going to give up their lead with a dominant third quarter period that produced a further three points from a penalty goal by Swankie after an effective drive by Campbell. Murray's accolade as Glasgow Coach of the Year was recognition to his rugby achievements in the city. A member of Cartha QP RFC from an early age and a former employee of Scottish Rugby, Murray was named Scottish Rugby's Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2009 and guided Ayr RFC to the Scottish Hydro Premier 1 title last year for the first time in the club's 120 year history. Baillie added: "Kenny is rightly regarded as one of the top rugby coaches in Scotland and his award last night is another feather in his cap."
