Max Evans touches down for Glasgow's first try of the night.

Glasgow Warriors resurrected their hopes of making the Heineken Cup knock-out stages with a well earned win over Gloucester at Firhill tonight.

Glasgow’s tries came from centre Max Evans and fullback Bernardo Stortoni, with Man of the Match Dan Parks adding the remaining 23 points from his boot.

After the game, Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: "It's absolutely fantastic the way we have been gelling in the last couple of weeks.

"I'm just so happy with the front five. They worked so hard and Kelly Brown must have been close to man of the match. These guys are still young, but the belief is coming.

"Next week is massive down there as they will be hurting. We'll go down there in front of a huge crowd and they will be desperate so we'll need to keep our discipline and play well."

Parks registered the opening points with two penalties in the opening five minutes. He and his opposite number, Gloucester stand-off Nicky Robinson, exchanged penalties to take the score to 12-6 after 20 minutes before the first try of the night was scored. It was Charlie Sharples who touched down having pounced on a Parks error to run in from distance.

Glasgow’s forward pack continued to dominate and just two minutes later, they provided the platform for Parks to slot his fifth try of the night.

Six minutes from the half-time break, the Warriors were back in hunt for the try line. A sweeping cross-field move shifted the ball to Max Evans who crossed for the first of Glasgow’s two tries.

Four minutes later, Glasgow stretched their lead even further as a long pass out wide from Parks found Stortoni who made no mistake finding the whitewash. Parks converted.

The second half saw Gloucester attempt to mount a comeback, but the home defence stood firm and showed no signs of weakening.

Parks nudged two penalties which saw Glasgow leapfrog Gloucester in Pool 2. A testy return leg at Kingsholm now awaits next weekend.
