On the other side of the world, Kevin Tkachuk took the field in Tokyo as he won his 51st cap for Canada. The Canadians lost 46-8 in the first of two tests against Japan. The hosts scored a total of six tries - including three first half markers to build a 25-3 half time lead. Nathan Hirayama scored the lone Canadian try while James Pritchard provided a penalty goal in the first half.
