Scotland head coach Andy Robinson advised today that Glasgow Warriors centre Max Evans would not be involved in the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Test series which starts against Fiji on Saturday 14 November.

Evans, who had trained with the squad throughout the three-day camp having been invited to attend as part of his rehabilitation programme following a knee injury.

Robinson explained that Evans is to undergo minor surgery to correct a small problem on his other knee with the likelihood that he would return to action for Glasgow in their matches against either Ulster or Gloucester in December.

Evans’ team-mate, No 8 Johnnie Beattie, sat out training today on account of a groin injury but the medical view was that his absence was precautionary.

On a brighter note, Scotland’s cap and points’ record holder Chris Paterson resumed training with the national squad on the final day of their camp in St Andrews today.

Paterson, who had missed Edinburgh’s Magners League game against the Dragons last weekend on account of a foot injury, took part in the session in bright and clear conditions on the Madras pitches.

His club colleague, centre Ben Cairns, continues to receive treatment for the knee injury which saw him retire in the first-half of that match.  Cairns did not train today.

Meanwhile prop Alasdair Dickinson is returning to his club, Gloucester, for further rehabilitation on his shoulder injury and will miss the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests against Fiji, Australia and Argentina.
