DUO RETURN FOR OSPREYS ENCOUNTER PDF Print
Tuesday, 27 October 2009
Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, today named a 25-man squad to face Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Friday night (30 October, kick-off 7.05pm).

Following a testing injury and illness period, Glasgow welcome the return of hooker Fergus Thomson and outside back Peter Murchie from their respective calf and groin injuries.

Last weekend the Warriors climbed to fourth-place in the Magners League with a four-try bonus point win (34-20) over Connacht, two points above their Welsh opponents who lie in fifth.

“It’s all about getting these key players back. The result against Connacht was great – getting that bonus point – as well as welcoming back Richie Gray and Max Evans who made a big contribution,” said Lineen.

“We’re fourth in the table at the moment despite what’s been going on in terms of injuries and illness, which has really tested and challenged us, but the level of commitment in the squad is just outstanding and the team spirit is stronger than ever.”

The sides last met in September when the Ospreys overcame a 10-point deficit to snatch the game at Firhill however Lineen is confident Glasgow have the attitude and ability to stand up against the Welshmen.

He added: “They’re a tough and very physical European-standard team so we need to go down there and make sure we make a real fight of it, make a statement and get the result.

“They’ve invested heavily, they’ve got some world class players but it’s 15 against 15 and we’re going down there to get the win.”
