![]() Thom Evans scored Glasgow's first try against Cardiff as they recorded a rare win in the Welsh capital. Glasgow Warriors recorded their first win in the Welsh capital this evening since 2002 as they sealed a gritty win against last season’s Heineken Cup semi-finalists Cardiff Blues. The Warriors sprung to an early lead through two early Dan Parks penalties. The first half suffered a drought of scoring action, but as injury time began, scrum-half Colin Gregor sent the ball towards Parks who changed the direction on play with a cross-field kick. As Cardiff fumbled in the wet conditions, and Glasgow wing Thom Evans got a foot to it. He gave chase and managed to ground the ball despite sliding towards the dead ball line at pace. Parks converted to give the visitors an 11 point lead at the break with no reply from the hosts. The Warriors started the second half in the same vain as they had started the first with Parks keeping the scoreboard ticking over with his third successful kick of the night. As the game approached 65 minutes of play, prop Moray Low hacked at a loose ball and Evans gave chase. He popped the ball to Johnnie Beattie who was in support and the number 8 had both the pace and power to reach the line and dot down unchallenged. Parks converted. Cardiff rang the changes a little too late but did manage to score a consolation try inside the final ten minutes. But it was too little too late as Glasgow rediscovered their winning edge and climbed to sixth place in the Magners League, just three points off second spot, with Edinburgh yet to play the Ospreys tomorrow. The Warriors now look forward to kick-starting their Heineken Cup campaign next Saturday afternoon (10 October, kick-off 3:45pm) when they welcome Biarritz to Firhill.
