Glasgow Warriors and Scotland stars Max Evans and Fergus Thomson got together at Cartha Queens Park to show that Changing Rooms is coming to rugby’s changing rooms. Scottish Rugby and Scottish Hydro, National Sponsors of Scottish Community Rugby, have teamed up to create the Scottish Hydro Club Facilities Fund. This new and improved Fund will offer rugby clubs up to £2000 to finance their home improvements.
Scotland and Glasgow Warriors centre, Max Evans, believes the boost from the new fund will be a welcome addition to rugby clubs across the country. “Rugby in Scotland is growing every year and in order to continually attract and retain players and supporters it’s important that club facilities are at their best to make the club environment appealing to all – whether it’s a lick of paint in the changing rooms or renovated club rooms for match-day hospitality,” said Max. “As a player, small improvements to the clubhouse, training or playing facilities can make a big difference to the performance on the pitch.” The funds are available for any club with maintenance or improvement projects from floodlighting, to a new shower block, a new set of rugby posts or even as a means to kick start a much larger fundraising project. Second year Scottish Rugby SVQ community coach and Cartha Queens rugby player, Thomas Davidson, said: “Our shower and changing rooms are a bit of a mess so with the support of the club facilities fund we could give it a facelift and make it look a lot more professional – particularly for visiting teams. “Having improved facilities allows players to take a lot more pride in playing for the club and the badge on your shirt.” “This scheme will compliment other initiatives such as our Kit for Development Scheme which offer tangible support to clubs benefiting thousands of players around the country.” |
