Summer signing Peter Murchie - who impressed off the bench against Stade Rochelais - will start against Clermont Auvergne

Glasgow Warriors will field almost an entirely new starting XV for tomorrow (Friday) night’s second and final game of the Challenge Auvergne in Issoire, France, when they take on hosts Clermont Auvergne (kick-off 8pm local time).

Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, has made 11 changes, one positional, to the side that defeated French Division 2 side Stade Rochelais 20-11 on Tuesday evening.

Five players – fullback Bernardo Stoaroni, centre/wing Rob Dewey, prop Hamish Mitchell, lock Dan Turner and back-row Calum Forrester – will play their second game in four days. The only positional change sees summer signing Dewey move from inside centre to the right wing.

Lineen stated that eleven players currently in France with the squad (such as captain Al Kellock, Chris Cusiter, Thom and Max Evans, John Barclay, Graeme Morrison etc) will not feature in the Challenge Auvergne, but re-emphasised his enthusiasm to see the remainder of his squad in full-match action.

“The aim is to give everyone a run and continue to improve ahead of the new season,” he said. “The whole squad, but especially the younger players, have been absolutely fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform in another very tough encounter.”

Host side Clermont Auvergne have named former Glasgow favourite Jason White in their squad for tomorrow night’s game.

A full match report with reaction from the Glasgow camp will be posted on www.glasgowwarriors.org after the game.
