Glasgow Warriors’ Hefin O’Hare is currently cycling solo from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.

In his first interview since beginning on Sunday (a day earlier than planned), he told glasgowwarriors.org: “I’ve had a bit of bike trouble with seven flat tyres so far and my phone has also stopped working.

“I had had to stop and buy a new pay as you go mobile but it stopped working ten minutes out the shop.

“I got it fixed in the next town so hopefully that’s all the hiccups over with!”

Currently just outside Worcester, Hefin managed to cover 200 miles in the first two days of his mammoth challenge and hopes to cover 130 miles in his third day of cycling.

Hefin has raised over £2,000 so far for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.

The aim of the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation (registered charity number SCO07856) is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families by funding medical equipment, research and treatment facilities.

To help Hefin raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause, you can donate via his fundraising website by click here.

O’Hare plans to complete as much, if not all, of the 1,000 mile journey to John O’Groats in just seven days. That means pedalling approximately 140 miles, further than the distance between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, every day.
