Eight Glasgow Warriors players have been named in the Scotland ‘A’ team match-22 to play Russia in the first game of the IRB Nations Cup on Saturday.

New signing Chris Cusiter will skipper the side with current Glasgow captain Alastair Kellock acting as vice captain.

Cusiter will partner fellow Aberdonian Ruaridh Jackson who starts at stand-off.

Another new Warrior, Scotland internationalist Rob Dewey lines-up on the right wing, a position Warriors head coach Sean Lineen sees him occupying on his arrival in Scotland's biggest and best city.

In the pack, Moray Low starts at tight-head alongside former Warriors hooker Scott Lawson whilst Kellock teams-up with another former Glasgow second-rower in Craig Hamilton.

In the back-row, Kelly Brown is named on the blindside whulst Richie Vernon makes his return from a broken foot at No.8.

Since arriving in the Romanian capital on Tuesday, the 26-man squad, containing 12 players capped at senior Test level, have acclimatised to the searing heat ahead of the first of three games in a two-week period.

Robinson believes the preparation work has gone according to plan so far, although acknowledges the level of progress made will be determined by the result against the eastern European team.

Robinson said: “Everything has gone well so far and I’ve been really pleased with the way the squad have trained in extremely hot conditions.

“But the proof will be in how we play against Russia. We’ve picked several experienced international players for the match and we will be aiming to put down a marker for the rest of the tournament in terms of our performance.”
