Calum Forrester has been going from strength-to-strength with the Warriors this season and hopes to end his first year as a full-time professional on a high against Connacht on Friday night (kick-off 7:45pm).

Undoubtedly an up-and-down season for The Biggest Team in Glasgow, Forrester is eager to make a final impression in front of the Glasgow fans as the 2008/09 season comes to a conclusion.

“It’s been great for me and some of the other young players to get an opportunity to show the coaches and the fans our desire to play for Glasgow,” he said.

“We’ve recorded some impressive performances in Europe and also shown our class in the Magners League, but we haven’t strung together a series of wins to gather any sort of momentum and it’s hurt us now we’re at the tail end of the campaign.

“It’s been hugely frustrating for everyone, none more-so than the players and Friday night’s game can’t come around quick enough for me.”

Forrester believes that a result on Friday will go some way to repaying the supporters for their loyal support as the Warriors’ fan-base continues to increase – by almost 1,000 when compared to last year.

“I’ve seen, and heard, a massive difference in the crowd on Friday night’s from when I played a couple of times at Hughenden.

“The Glasgow fans are fantastic and really support the team through thick and thin. Every rugby player wants to be part of a club with a vibrant and loyal support and we certainly have that here at Glasgow.”

Connacht currently sit bottom of the Magners League table but will be eager to do the double over Glasgow having already turned them over by 15 points to 8 at the Galway Sportsground.

The double would do much for Connacht’s pride as they enter the summer months, but the Warriors have much more at stake sitting four points behind Ulster who occupy sixth spot and the Scarlets nipping at their heals in eighth place.

Having edged into the first team on a regular basis recently, Forrester hopes a positive performance on Friday will be the final nail he requires to pin down a starting jersey next season.

“We’ve got the makings of a fantastic team here and it’ll be exciting to train with the majority of this squad as well as the likes of Chris Cusiter and Rob Dewey next year. This club is going places and I want to be part of the team that takes us forward.”
