Glasgow Warriors lost their final away game of the season to Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium today.

The Warriors have now slipped to seventh place in the League, two points behind Cardiff Blues who have a game in hand.

Glasgow opened the scoring through fullback Bernardo Stortoni. The ball was spun left through the hands and winger Lome Fa’atau came infield and a shimmy soaked in the defence. An offload to Max Evans and then to Stortoni gave the Argentine a routine dot down. Ruaridh Jackson converted.

However, the Ospreys bounced back almost immediately with a try from No.8 Filo Tiatia. James Hook converted to level the score. A Ruaridh Jackson penalty edged the Warriors back in front but it was only a matter of time before the dominant Ospreys performance bore some fruit.

That fruit came from the boot of Hook as he systematically killed Glasgow but slotting every penalty that came his way. In the space of ten minutes, he kicked four penalties to give the home side a nine point advantage.

Having been the main arbitrator in the first try, Fa’atau snatched a score of his own moments later.

A wide pass to Max Evans saw the center burst through a huge hole in the Ospreys’ defence. A second wide pass, this time to Fa’atau, reached the Samoan and there was never any question over who would win the footrace to the line.

Hook then made a break for the line and though the Wales international was shackled by two Warriors defenders, Dan Biggar slipped a pass to Owen, who went over for the Ospreys’ second try.

Half-time score: Ospreys 24-15 Warriors

Warriors head coach Sean Lineen rung the changes at the start of the second half, five in total, as Ruaridh Jackson notched his second penalty.

Three yellow cards were to blight the Warriors’ second half efforts as the Ospreys weathered the final 40 minutes only losing two players to the bin.

Hook was wide with his next penalty attempt but quickly made amends to restore the nine-point lead. Shortly before Jamie Nutbrown weaved his way through to touch down under the posts, giving Hook a simple conversion.

The last play of the game came deep into injury time when prop Justin Va'a and Fa'atau then combined to give the winger his second try of the day.
