Glasgow Warriors captain and Scotland lock, Al Kellock, returned to his former club, Allan Glen’s, today to present them with a rugby-specific medical pack.

Donated by Scottish Rugby’s official health-care partner, Spire Murrayfield Hospital, the Spire ‘GO-Medic’ bag and its contents are worth upwards of £250 and is one of eight medical packs going to clubs across the country.

The pack is identical to that prepared for the Scotland national team.

Kellock said: “It’s great to return to my old club and be part of such a welcome donation.

“As with all sports it is important to play hard and fair but also to play safe. I think the amount and the type of kit that’s being donated is great and speaks volumes about the value that both Spire and Scottish Rugby attribute to player safety.”

Julie Campbell, business development manager at Spire, said: “It’s a matter of pride for us that, while we work closely with the medical staff of the Scotland and professional teams, we allow the benefits of our sponsorship to extend past the elite level to the club game.”

James Patton, Consultant Orthopeadic Surgeon, Spire Murrayfield Hospital, added:  “It is good to know if there is a problem; the players have got good kit at hand”.

The GO Medic hold-all contains items from sterile non-powder gloves to deep freeze spray.
