As a result of a very physical 33-26 victory over Toulouse in France at the weekend, Glasgow Warriors back-row James Eddie and centre Andrew Henderson will be sidelined for substantial periods.

Eddie, who suffered significant knee ligament damage, will be out for around three months whilst Henderson is ruled out for around two months with a fractured thumb.

Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: “It’s really disappointing to lose both players. We’re in a very difficult time of the season in terms of squad depth so we just need to a little bit smarter than other clubs who maybe have larger squads.

“It’s a challenging time but there’s a bounce in the step after the weekend’s result and we’ll just enjoy the moment as we build towards the visit of The Dragons on Sunday afternoon.”

Eddie and Henderson join Tim Barker (knee) and Lome Fa’atau (shin) in the treatment room, both of whom continue to make good progress under the care of the Glasgow medical staff.

The good news for Warriors fans is that scrum-half Mark McMillan has returned to full training and Sam Pinder is now back to full fitness – both having recovered from knee trouble.

Stand-off Ruaridh Jackson has also resumed full training having rested a calf injury over the weekend.

Glasgow Warriors are back in Heineken Cup action on Sunday afternoon (25 January, kick-off 3pm) when Newport Gwent Dragons return to Firhill.
