WARRIORS GET MAX BOOST PDF Print
Wednesday, 10 December 2008

One of the most exciting players in Scottish rugby, centre Max Evans, has extended his contract with Glasgow Warriors until 2011.

Evans joined his younger brother, Thom, at the Warriors back in January 2007 and has fast become one of the deadliest line-breakers in the Magners League, which earned him his first international cap against Canada at Pittodrie last month.

Speaking whilst enjoying a ‘hot tub’ bath at the David Lloyd club in Glasgow’s West End today in preparation for Glasgow’s return Heineken Cup clash against Bath on Sunday (14 December, kick-off 2pm), Evans said: “I really enjoy living in Glasgow and I love the atmosphere around the club.

”My main focus is to be in contention for a place in the Scotland squad for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and playing for Glasgow is going to give me the best chance of achieving that.

“Also, the management at Glasgow are first-class and they all add to improving my game and the overall experience of playing for Glasgow.”

Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, added: “Max is crucial to Glasgow going forward. He’s got the skills and the attitude to go all the way.

“I’ve been very impressed with his willingness to learn. He’s very unique in this country as an outside centre.”

Glasgow’s next game is at home against Bath on Sunday (14 December, kick-off 2pm).

The Warriors then face Edinburgh in the back-to-back Magners League fixtures – at Murrayfield on Friday 26 December (kick-off 7:30pm) and Firhill on Friday 2 January (kick-off 3pm) - which determine the victors of the David Lloyd 1872 Cup.
