FREE TICKET OFFER DEADLINE EXTENDED PDF Print
Monday, 01 December 2008

Scotland rugby fans have been handed an extension in order to ensure nobody misses out on the phenomenal free Magners League ticket offer.

Supporters who purchased tickets to any of the three Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests against New Zealand, South Africa and Canada can apply for a free ticket to watch the oldest intercity derby in rugby history.

Originally the deadline for applying for free tickets was scheduled for today (1 December), but because of overwhelming interest the closing date for the offer has been extended to 6 December; something that Glasgow Warriors chief executive Ian Riddoch feels is encouraging as Glasgow and Edinburgh look to break the attendance record for a Magners League game this season. “This is a fantastic offer for those who attended the Autumn Tests to experience the intensity of the David Lloyd 1872 Cup games for free,” he said.

“These games are a ‘must see’ for any sports fan and I’m delighted that the deadline has been extended so more people can come along and get behind their chosen team.”

Edinburgh chief executive Nic Cartwright echoed those sentiments adding: “It’s important that everybody who is entitled to a free ticket for the David Lloyd 1872 Cup matches does not miss out on the opportunity.

“There has already been a massive amount of interest from Scottish rugby supporters in the game, some of whom will have never watched a Magners League game before.

“Edinburgh and Glasgow supporters are reminded that as soon as this offer ends, the tickets will go on general sale.”

In order to redeem a free ticket for a Magners League match, fans need to visit www.scottishrugby.org and click on the link titled ‘Free Magners League Game’.

Thousands of supporters have already redeemed the offer with their Autumn Test tickets. The first 60,000 who take up the offer will be able to watch the first David Lloyd 1872 Cup cash at Murrayfield on 26 December 2008, kicking off at 7.30pm. The deciding leg of the inter-city derby is at Firhill on Friday 2 January (kick-off 7:30pm).

Scotland supporters are also reminded that RBS 6 Nations tickets for the matches against Wales (Sunday, 8 February) and Italy (Saturday, 28 February at Murrayfield are also on sale. Please see www.scottishrugby.org (terms and conditions apply) for more details.
