Currently on his way back from shoulder injury, Eddie, 23, is targeting the first David Lloyd 1872 Cup clash between Glasgow and Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Boxing Day to make his return to first team action. Plus, with the deadline looming for supporters who attended the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests to redeem their free ticket to the Boxing Day clash, he hopes that he can play a part in a Warriors victory in front of the biggest Magners League crowd this season. “I made my return from injury in the back-up game against Edinburgh two weeks ago when we won,” he recalled, “and I came through that pretty well. But if I got the chance to play in the big game at Murrayfield on Boxing Day, the return leg at Firhill, or both, then that would be fantastic.
“The Glasgow fans always make plenty of noise, and there are no bigger games for them than the 1872 Cup games. The support they gave us through at Murrayfield last year was tremendous so it’s great to know that, if they’re not already season ticket holders for the Warriors, they can get into the away game for free. The support from the stands makes all the difference to what happens on the pitch and a record crowd would be absolutely incredible.” In order to redeem a free ticket for a Magners League match, fans need to visit www.scottishrugby.org and click on the link titled ‘Free Magners League Game’. Thousands of supporters have already redeemed the offer with their Autumn Test tickets. The first 60,000 who take up the offer will be able to watch the first David Lloyd 1872 Cup cash at Murrayfield on 26 December 2008, kicking off at 7.30pm. The deciding leg of the inter-city derby is at Firhill on Friday 2 January (kick-off 7:30pm). But time is running out for supporters to claim this special deal with the offer set to close on midnight on Monday (1 December). James was joined by the penguins at Xscape Braeheads Migrate08 campaign. Throughout the festive period, Scotland’s ultimate winter resort has so much on offer that even penguins from the South Pole have made the mighty migration to spend time in Xscape’s winter wonderland to experience a special programme of events over the holiday season. Glasgow Warriors back-row, James Eddie, was today besieged by penguins as he urged Scotland fans who attended the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests to “PPPick up their free Magners League ticket now!”
“I was on the bench for both games last year and it was an amazing feeling to lift the Cup in front of the Glasgow fans at Firhill after the second game. I want to do that again so I’m working hard to get back and compete for a place in what is a very competitive squad.
