Richie Vernon was outstanding in the back-up game against Leinster
WARRIORS 17 – 18 LEINSTER
The Glasgow Warriors back-up squad were defeated by only a single point at their training base at Whitecraigs RFC this afternoon against their counterparts from Leinster.

Roughly the same Leinster squad that defeated Edinburgh a few weeks ago, it was the visitors that struck first with a penalty in the 20th minute.

The Warriors replied through Stevie Swindall who marked his comeback from injury with a try. Richie Vernon peeled off from the back of the scrum and the offload to Swindall ensured the Warriors had the first try of the afternoon.

A penalty for each Glasgow and Leinster separated the two sides by four points at the break (Warriors 10-6 Leinster).

The Warriors stretched their lead five minutes into the second half as Hefin O’Hare nipped over. Jackson converted.

However, the visitors had the last word as they crossed the line twice shortly after the hour mark. A last minute penalty opportunity for Jackson could have clinched the game for Glasgow but the angle was too tricky, the ball perched out on the far touch line.

Glasgow Warriors back-up squad: Jamie Hunter*, Grant Anderson*, Peter Horne*, Steven Wilson*, Hefin O'Hare; Ruaridh Jackson, Sam Pinder; Kevin Tkachuk, Eric Milligan, Ed Kalman, Dan Turner, Richie Gray, Stevie Swindall, Roddy Grant*, Richie Vernon
Substitutes: Gary Strain**, Jon Welsh, Gordon Reid**, Tim Barker, Rob Harley*, Kevin Bryce**, Calum Forrester, Tom Bury**, Peter Jericevich*
